Q&A
I’ve recently started planning my Celebration of Life Party. I’m not sick or old, I want certain details be made by myself. I’ve got a notebook with info for my family that has instructions to follow. My questions for you are, can you provide a casual celebration environment, do you have technology to play music & photo slideshow from thumb drive or CD’s? Do you have a reception area for food to be served? Do you have a list of caterers & is alcohol allowed to be served during reception? Are there sound system in reception area. It’s very important to me that music be played since I prefer a party like experience. Do you have tables available to use for memory tables to display memorabilia & photos, etc. I’m very detailed oriented & will make sure family knows the items I’d like to be used during celebration. I’m planning on cremation & will have my urns, 1 large & 5 very small keepsake urns. Ive heard such good things from my son, who has attended several services @ Serenity Chapel. I’m following strict COVID shelter @ home orders & am unable to come visit @ this time. I live in the neighborhood & wouldn’t consider any other funeral homes. Any & all information you can provide would help me complete my written instructions that I’ll give to family members. Thank you for your time, Renee Carr email reneecarr54@gmail.com. – Renee C.

Vanessa Melendez — Michelle was wonderful. She helped me and my sister to coordinate our mothers funeral. She made things 100x better and honestly without her being so sweet and patient with us, I’m not sure if we would have been able to do it anywhere else.
Thank you Michelle!

Virginia Natal — I wanted to make sure I wrote a review for Mission Funeral Home on S.1St. I won't say it was a privilege because who wants to deal with funeral arrangements especially when you have to bury your child , BUT I will say that I couldn't trust anyone else with my son who I lost in October other... Read more than D'Ann at Mission Funeral Home . The minute me and my family walked in she treated us with respect and she is a very beautiful person inside and out . She made sure I knew I could trust her with my son and although my heart was hurting I knew I was able to walk away leaving him in great hands . This was the worst day of my life and she was a very big comfort and i was very satisfied with her services . Unfortunately recently I lost my father as well and I couldn't thank Mission enough for your help during this rough time for me . Thank you ! Read less

Rebecca Hall — My family and I had to make the final arrangements for our amazing mom. Although making all the decisions was difficult, D’Ann Alvarez (funeral director) was so helpful and kind. She was so understanding and sympathetic to the fact that we lost our mom. As I sat in the room with my Dad and 2 other sisters,... Read more I felt like D’Ann sincerely cared about us. At first she asked us what we wanted and expected for our mom. We made the arrangements, set the dates and times. After our first meeting I felt like we made the plans how mom wanted them. Since I was our family’s single point of contact, I was in constant contact with D’Ann. D’Ann’s professionalism and kindness was beyond what I expected from a funeral director. Every time I asked a question, D’Ann always responded. Thank you D’Ann, you are a blessing!!! On the 1st service day, I arrived at the earliest time for the immediate family. When I saw my mother in the casket (yes, it was difficult & emotional) she looked beautiful and perfect! The evening viewing service went as planned and the night time staff were professional and awesome. The next morning we had one more service and then to the interment service. I can look back at this time of sorrow and say everything went as planned, because the staff at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel truly cared about my family. Thank you Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel for helping us to honor our mom. You all are a blessing. God Bless,
